2017年8月改定 USB グラフィックス・アダプタとは PC 本体に付属しているグラフィックス・ポートではなく、USB ポートを経由して、外部ディスプレイを接続することができるようにするためのアダプタです。 ラップトップやノートブックパソコンなどの場合、ご使用の PC に 1 つしかビデオ出力端子がなかったり、システム上の制限として、複数あるビデオ出力のうち一度にはどれか 1 つしか使用できないような場合があります。このようなシステムでも USB グラフィックス・アダプタを使用すれば、2 台以上の外部ディスプレイを接続できます。 USB グラフィックスのパフォーマンスについて USB グラフィックス・アダプタだけではなく、PC に接続された USB 機器はどれも、PC 本体の CPU および GPU 処理能力を使用して処理を行います。したがって、USB グラフィックス・アダプタによるディスプレイ描画のパフォーマンスが、PC 自体に装備されているディスプレイ・ポートや、専用の GPU を備えたグラフィックス・カードなどに勝ることはありません。また、PC の CPU が比較的古いものや、十分な性能でない場合には、USB グラフィックスの表示が遅かったり、ビット単位での欠落が起きたりすることがあり得ます。 製造年数が経っていたり比較的 CPU 能力が低い PC では、USB グラフィックスを使用して YouTube などのビデオを見ているときに、USB で接続されたマウスのカーソルが見えなくなったり動きがスムースでなくなるようなことがあります。しかしビデオが終了すれば問題はなくなります。原因は、ビデオ描画に CPU 能力のほとんどが使用されてしまい、他の USB 機器であるマウスカーソルの描画に著しい遅延が生じるためです。 USB グラフィックスは、CPU の負荷が高いアプリケーション（ビデオ会議や、1080p 以上の解像度のビデオ再生、ゲームなどの時間単位当たりの描画変更が非常に多いソフトウェア）や、高解像度のディスプレイを何台も必要とするような環境にはお勧めできません。しかし通常、普通のウェブ閲覧や オフィス・アプリケーション、メールなどの用途には十分な性能を提供できます。 4K […]
